Defibrillator for the British Oak

December 10, 2020by BethNo Comments
WE’VE DONE IT!
Funds have been raised to buy and install a defibrillator in Tingley after a successful joint campaign led by both WF3 Kindness and West Ardsley Action Group.
The campaign started on Sunday 22nd November and the target was set to try and raise enough funds before Christmas to buy a defibrillator to be installed outside the British Oak on Westerton Road.
In just over three weeks the community have come together and tonight the donations reached £1,500 thanks to some amazingly generous donations from members of the community including Nicola Beal, The British Oak and Kaygan Windows and the family of the late Tony Bathie.
The campaign has captured the hearts of many in the community including Mike Robinson who held a raffle of a beautiful aerial view canvas of the village and has since offered a donation of up to £15 from each canvas sold towards the cause.
Dan Frank from WF3 Kindness said: “The response to our campaign has been immense and I’d like to thank everyone for their generosity.
“A special thanks to Camille Leach from WAAG who is amazing, she’s driven this from the start and simply without her support we wouldn’t have achieved the target so quickly. This piece of equipment will undoubtedly save lives, right here in Tingley, every single person that has donated cash, shared the posts or helped with ideas can be very proud”
Camille Leach from West Ardsley Action Group said: “I’m so thankful to everyone who got on board to help us reach target so quickly. I’m proud to live in such a caring community where we look after each other, a community who can always be counted on when the call goes out asking for help”
WF3 Kindness and West Ardsley Action Group will now work together to order the defibrillator and get it installed, early next year.
The pair have already committed to continuing the project to buy another community defibrillator in another location within the village with Dan adding: “We have worked so well together and the appetite from so many in the community is there. We have been contacted by people suggesting locations for our next one so we will stick with it and hopefully announce the next objective soon”.
Members of the community can still donate to the WF3 Kindness charity: https://www.gofundme.com/…/wf3kindness…

Christmas Tree O’ Christmas Tree…

December 10, 2020by BethNo Comments
You wait all year for a tree and then 3 turn up at once!
Aswell as a lovely tree at the Methodist Church we now have a village Christmas tree plus a mini one for the kids
A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO Mr Simon Panther and Mr Dave Whitey
You can find the Trees outside of Hilltop School
West Ardsley Action Group now ask some thing of you-
The small tree needs decorating as does the bush at the front ( next to the big tree) and the railings outside the community centre
Please feel free to place a bauble, you can dedicate it to someone you love, some one you miss or ‘just because’
if you want to write on your bauble to let everyone know why or for who please do or if you wish to stay private you can, there’s no pressure. 😊
Just baubles no tinsel please.
please keep the large tree clear as its already very beautiful
Thanks to Lynda, Camille and Jessica for putting the tree up this afternoon and to our Tree watchers who will keep an eye on it 🎄

Hooray! We finally have our very own Community Notice Board! It’s now in place by the community centre near Hill Top School. Many thanks to our local ward Councillors and the Outer South Community Committee for funding and our very own WAAG for organising this! Keep your eye on the board for any local events and information for upcoming issues.

If you include your address Father Christmas (who wont use your details for anything else and he is police checked!) might write back to your Children, adding to the magic of Christmas.

Yes, there was a pretence of democracy, for show only. Over 3,000 cannot be wrong but LCC want it concreted over. You’d think they’d at least put it in reserve rather than first up over brownfield sites it’s just so very sad & very wrong. Gone forever for the sake of greed.

@HaighHelp @LeedsCC_News @LeedsNews @leedslivenews The destruction of this beautiful & important green space for wildlife & the community is a travesty of democracy (3,000 objections). History will judge the Government & Leeds Council harshly for their disregard for nature, the environment and people's wellbeing. Heartbreaking.

I thought I’d share this again. The legal agreement for haigh wood development just posted on planning portal has made the reality hit hard. Our beautiful green space. Our green lung. Gone forever to join the urban sprawl. Shame on you @LeedsCC_News

This is what we will lose. It’s heartbreaking and it will be gone forever. Decision day on 30th Jan 2020 by Leeds City Plans Panel. Recommended by planning despite 3000 objections for the unsustainable development! #savehaighwoods 3
