there will be a service on a Wednesday and a Sunday, the numbers allowed will be reduced due to social distancing.  You must book a place via event bright if you wish to attend – 1 ticket equals 3 people

URGENT APPEAL FOR OBJECTIONS TO 2 PLANNING APPLICATIONS BY THE CHURCH COMMISSION TO BE HEARD BY KIRKLEES COUNCIL PLANNING COMMITTEE
 
As of today, Sunday 9th August the Chidswell Action Group has only 20 days to get as many objections to the two planning applications which will see 1500+ houses and a large industrial estate being built on land previously in the Green Belt.
 
We have the full support of Mark Eastwood, MP for Dewsbury who is prepared to make representations at the highest level in order to save the site from development, but we need thousands of objections from the public to help these efforts.
 
Reasons to object –
Health threats to children from pollution due to thousands of extra vehicles using the A653
The land acts as a zero carbon emission “green lung” separating Kirklees, Wakefield and Leeds – building on Chidswell will create massive urban sprawl with communities losing their identity.
Local schools are operating at capacity with no plans by Kirklees to build new schools.
Doctors’ surgeries and public amenities would be unable to cope with such a rise in population.
The development is contrary to the Government’s National Planning Policy Framework which supports health, social and cultural wellbeing.

It is with great sadness and regret that we have to announce that this years fairs have both been cancelled due to the current situation with Covid 19,the landowners have not given us permission to use the land, we have tried to find suitable land to hold the fairs but have been unsuccessful.
We understand that travelling to the fairs is tradition but we ask that you do not turn up on the dates as unlike appleby their is nowhere for you to park safely without upsetting local residents which then puts future fairs in jeopardy of being held.
Thank you for all your continued support and we look forward to welcoming you back to the fairs in 2021

Police speed checks

From West Yorkshire Police-
 
Officers from Team 2 Morley Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out speed checks in #Tingley using the Pro Laser speed device on the following roads;
Lowry Road, Syke Road, Batley Road and Westerton Road.
 
We recorded the statistics of speeds and dealt with those who were exceeding the limit. Officers also had to intervene and deal with a member of the public who was spotted by officers signalling to other road users of our presence.
 
On a serious note, that kind of behaviour not only hampers the good work that staff and officers do to reduce speeding motorists (one of the Fatal Five) but their actions are also reckless as it can result in other motorists slamming on their brakes & causing an accident.”
 
If drivers are warning others about a speed trap implemented by the police, they could be in breach of section 89 of the Police Act 1997.
This law dictates that this offence is when a motorist will “wilfully obstruct a constable in the execution of his/her duty.”
 
Motorists could be prosecuted if they are caught warning other drivers on the road for any speed trap.

All Brownies are currently closed, They are hoping to reopen as soon as the Girl Guide guidelines allow it

Yesterday, Leeds Councillors met to again discuss the housing proposal at the Haigh wood site.

The councillors over turned their own decision and have now agreed  outline planning permission on the site for 299 houses.
