May 5, 2021by BethNo Comments

After a long time of having to have their doors closed for live services, the two Methodist Churches in our area are opening  for in person worship.

Tingley Methodist Church on Westerton Road have now reopened for Sunday services, please note you MUST pre-book as numbers have been restricted to tie in with social distancing advice. You can book a family bubble ticket via eventbrite  HERE

West Ardsley Methodist Church on Haigh Moor Road is hoping to reopen 6th June 10.30am but on line services will still be taking place, streaming directly from the Church.

Election

May 4, 2021by BethNo Comments

The local ( and Mayoral) elections are nearly upon us and you can vote in person on 6th May 2021

Our main polling station is the Methodist Church on Haigh Moor Road (please do check your polling card before travelling to vote)

COVID restrictions will be in place.

Please wear a mask at all times – Please remember to socially distance from others- only 2 people will be allowed into the polling station at any one time- there is only one polling booth available to use.

If you have requested a postal vote and you have missed the deadline to return it do not despair as you can take it along to the polling station where it will be put in a different box and it will be counted.

You do not need a polling card to place your vote as long as you are registered

School Uniform Swap

April 26, 2021by BethNo Comments

7th August – this is a good date to put on you calendars!

The Uniform swap team has been given the ok to hold an “in person” event – this will be a chance for you to get rid of school uniform that doesn’t fit and replace it with stuff that does!

Saving the environment AND saving money whats not to like? – we all know how quickly they go through their school uniform and it can be a costly affair, this event is open to EVERYONE.

Schools included are- Westerton, Hilltop, Black Gates and East Ardsley Primary plus Wood Kirk High School

So please start saving your old uniform- if there’s life left in it please think about donating/swapping it- this includes trousers and skirts, dresses, summer and winter styles- shorts, shirts, jumpers and cardigans.  Shoes, trainers, book bags- not forgetting school  sports kit or kit from local teams! it is all welcome.

Volunteers will start to gather it together in July to sort it out, into schools and sizes ready for the event itself which will be held at Tingley Methodist Church on Westerton Road, 10am – 1pm .

WF3 Wombles

April 10, 2021by BethNo Comments

The Wombles have always been tidy folk, clearing up after others, now we have our own set of Wombles in this area!

The Leeds WF3 Wombles!

Maybe while out, you have seen lots of purple or white rubbish bags next to public litter bins and wonder who has been clearing up, or you maybe are wondering how you can get involved.

The WF3 Wombles are a group of like minded people who are keeping every thing nice, if you would like to get involved you can! https://www.facebook.com/groups/leedswf3wombles/

They have a face book page when you can log number of bags and masks. If you need bags they are available at the one stop shop and the Hare and Hounds

Stay safe and please follow Covid guidance whilst out and about.

Play safe

March 25, 2021by BethNo Comments
There have been some concerns raised by residents who live near Hilltop school and school themselves regarding a large group of approx 20 children who have been congregating around hilltop top school car park on evenings and weekends.
Please do not take this as a moaning about children post!
Children need to be able to socialise and play and so they should after the year we’ve all had!
Please can you remind your children that the car park is not a terribly safe place to play football
Bad language can cause distress to some of our residents especially those who may be a little older ( and its not impressing anyone!) 😉
Fences are not goals and damage can be caused which then costs to repair
And of course don’t forget to socially distance! Covid is still very real
There is s community field behind the school which can be used and is much safer away from cars and glass, as long as this area is kept damage free it will be open after 6pm 😊
We are not moaning but trying to find solutions 😊

Local trees

March 25, 2021by BethNo Comments

Sadly in the last week there has been some damage caused to local trees in West Ardsley in two separate incidents.

A live tree in Haighwood was burnt and a tree behind Hilltop School on community land was deliberately cut. this is criminal damage on both counts 🙁

The community try very hard to look after our environment, please help us to do this, the local councillors are aware of the incidents

thanks

"The landscape has a relatively weak landscape structure with limited features worthy of conservation, and a number of detracting features, including large pylons. The quality of the landscape is judged to be poor".
