Police speed checks

July 24, 2020by BethNo Comments
From West Yorkshire Police-

Officers from Team 2 Morley Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out speed checks in #Tingley using the Pro Laser speed device on the following roads;
Lowry Road, Syke Road, Batley Road and Westerton Road.

We recorded the statistics of speeds and dealt with those who were exceeding the limit. Officers also had to intervene and deal with a member of the public who was spotted by officers signalling to other road users of our presence.

On a serious note, that kind of behaviour not only hampers the good work that staff and officers do to reduce speeding motorists (one of the Fatal Five) but their actions are also reckless as it can result in other motorists slamming on their brakes & causing an accident.”

If drivers are warning others about a speed trap implemented by the police, they could be in breach of section 89 of the Police Act 1997.
This law dictates that this offence is when a motorist will “wilfully obstruct a constable in the execution of his/her duty.”

Motorists could be prosecuted if they are caught warning other drivers on the road for any speed trap.

Haighwood Planning- PLEASE READ

May 14, 2020by BethNo Comments

Just to inform the people in our community, that the chief planning officer at Leeds City Council is advising the planning panel to reconsider the decision made in January by the panel.

If you are concerned about the council ignoring and over turning this democratic process, please contact your local councillor.

The next meeting is to be held behind closed Zoom doors on 21st May 2020

Many residents and objectors have received letters from the Head of development management, Mr Jonathan Carr, stating “no new significant information has been produced raising new material planning considerations” THIS IS NOT THE CASE

The new information can be found on the Leeds city council planning portal

Green and black bins are being emptied as normal, please put your bins out the night before the collection day.

Brown bins (garden waste) Are NOT currently being emptied

Tidy tips are closed

Public waste bins are NOT being emptied, we know its a bind but please take your rubbish home with you especially dog poop bags, the weather has been warm and the bins are now smelling!

Bottle banks can still be used around the area, please keep the areas around them tidy and take boxes and bags home with you.

How many more green spaces are going to get concreted over in the UK?! This will soon become another statistic. Where’s all the wildlife supposed to go? It’s just all about money; developers can do anything they want as long as they throw enough money at it. The UK is broken.

The area was already wild.....it didn’t need rewilding nor the 1000s tonnes of concrete that replaced the ripped out previous wild ..... we have to stop Government Greenwashing their destruction! #Cop26 #WorldWithoutNature #WorldWildlifeDay https://twitter.com/bearwitness2019/status/1367013426489344000

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/mar/03/hs2-to-rewild-127-hectares-around-its-10-mile-chilterns-tunnel This is absurd! ‘Rewilding or re-wilding, activities are conservation efforts aimed at restoring and PROTECTING natural processes and wilderness areas.‘ #HS2 destroyed the wilderness area first. @HS2ltd greenwash and a cheap way to get rid of the chalk.

You might have noticed that our logo looks different today.

Much of our natural world is disappearing or threatened, so to mark #WorldWildlifeDay we’ve taken the nature out of our logo too.
